Jennie Baranczyk is in her second season as an assistant women's basketball coach at the University of Colorado. She was the first hire for head coach Linda Lappe, joining the staff on May 10, 2010.

Baranczyk, 29, serves as the program's recruiting coordinator and assists with opponent scouting, practice planning and pre and postseason workouts. On the floor she has an emphasis in the development of CU's post players.

She had a memorable first season at Colorado, bringing energy and enthusiasm to a new staff that led the Buffaloes to an 18-16 overall record, advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2011 Postseason WNIT.

"Jennie is one of the best young coaches in the nation and she is a huge asset in terms of recruiting and overall knowledge of the game," Lappe said. "She is a very good teacher, a proven winner and has high character."

Baranczyk arrived at Colorado after four seasons as an assistant coach at Marquette University (2006-10) as a member of Terri Mitchell's staff, where she helped the Golden Eagles to an overall record of 81-53 and four postseason tournament appearances.

At Marquette, Baranczyk's duties included the development of post players, on and off campus recruiting, game scheduling, opponent scouting and serving as a liaison for media relations.

During Baranczyk's first season at Marquette, she assisted the Golden Eagles to a 26-7 record and a spot in the second round of the 2007 NCAA Tournament. MU qualified for the WNIT postseason event her last three seasons, winning the championship in 2008, a run that included an 86-72 semifinal win over Colorado in Boulder.

Baranczyk's experience in the Big 12 Conference, extended past Colorado as she began her professional coaching career with a two year stint at Kansas State University (2004-06) under Deb Patterson. She joined the Wildcats' staff during the 2004-05 season, serving as assistant director of basketball operations in charge of administrative and organizational aspects of the program.

She was promoted to a full-time assistant coach during the 2005-06 campaign as the Wildcats finished 24-10 and won the WNIT postseason championship. Baranczyk also earned her master's degree in counseling and student development from Kansas State in 2006.

Formerly Jennie Lillis, Baranczyk was a four-year letterwinner at forward for the University of Iowa (2000-04). One of the best all-around players in Hawkeye basketball history, she was a three-time All-Big Ten Conference selection, earning first team honors as a junior (2003) and second team recognition as a sophomore (2002) and senior (2004).

One of only two Iowa players to collect better than 1,700 points and 800 rebounds in a career, Baranczyk is the only player in Hawkeye history to rank in the top 10 all-time in the Iowa record book in scoring (4th/1,762 points), rebounding (5th/827), assists (8th/297), blocks (3rd/114), and steals (6th/196). She helped the Hawkeyes to the 2001 Big Ten Tournament Championship and four postseason appearances, including three NCAA Tournament bids (2001-02, '04).

Baranczyk graduated from Iowa in 2004 with her bachelor's degree in communication studies. She was the recipient of the 2004 Big Ten Conference's Medal of Honor.  First awarded in 1914, the Big Ten's oldest award is given annually to a student in the graduating class of each university that demonstrated proficiency in scholarship and athletics. She was also a three-time Academic All-Big Ten pick, a WBCA Scholarship Award recipient, CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree, and a Collegiate Basketball Award for Excellence semifinalist as a senior in 2004.
