The 2002 NCAA Cross Country champion in a course record time, he was an eight-time All-American with three runner-up finishes in 10 NCAA Championship races … He was an 11-time letterman in cross country, indoor and outdoor track combined and a three-time CU Male Athlete of the Year at Colorado (2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03), the only three-time selection and one of just two to be honored twice … Also co-recipient of the Career Athletic Achievement Award in 2003 … The national runner-up finishes came in the 2001 NCAA Cross Country championship, and in the 2002 Indoor and Outdoor 5,000-meter races … The CU record holder in the outdoor 5,000-meter run (13:24.56) … He was also third at the NCAA XC meet as a sophomore in 2000, when he was 16th at USA Outdoor 5K …  A dominant performer in the Big 12 as well, claiming three conference cross country titles (2000, 2001, 2002), two 5,000-meter indoor titles (2000, 2002) and outdoor wins in the 1,500-meters (2002) and the 5K (2003), often setting meet and venue records in the process ... Also had a handful of top runner-up finishes in his career ... After completing his collegiate eligibility in the spring of ‘03 he signed an endorsement contract with Reebok and began competing professionally; his post-collegiate resume includes making the finals at the 2003 World Outdoor Championships (15th), after finishing third in at the US Championships in the 5K … On the ‘03 European circuit, he had stops in Greece (3rd, 1,500-meters), Belgium (11th, 5K) and Finland (3K) where he set personal bests in all three events … His 2004 Olympic bid fell short when he finished seventh in the trials … Qualified for the 2008 Olympics in the 10,000-meters, finishing third at the trials ... Also served for a brief time as a volunteer assistant coach for the cross country and track teams.
