BOULDER – Colorado women's golf coach Anne Kelly announced the signing of two student-athletes to national letters of intent: Alisha Lau and Katie Stribling.

Lau is from Richmond, British Columbia Canada and attends JN Burnett Secondary High School. She has been playing competitively for seven years.

"Alisha was a highly recruited player and we are very excited that she choose CU," said Kelly. "Alisha has a lot of high level tournament experience and has very sound fundamentals that will blossom with more experience at the collegiate level.  She is a dedicated student and athlete who will represent our program and CU in a first rate manor."

Lau has six top-5 finishes in her young golf career, the most recent being this past season at the Canadian Juniors Girls Championship where she had a fourth place finish.

Other notable performances for Lau include the 2015 British Columbia Women's Amateur where she finished tied for third place and taking medalist honors at the CN Future Links Prairie 2015. Lau also was a member of the 2015 Team Canada Development Squad.

"I chose Colorado because of the competitiveness both academically and golf wise," remarked Lau after her signing. "I also believe the coaching staff will be able to help me get my game to the next level and Boulder is a welcoming and beautiful city."

Stribling is from Tustin, California and attends Foothill High School. She has been playing golf competitively for six years.

"We are very excited to add Katie to our team in 2017," said Kelly. "We feel Katie has yet to reach the peak in her game is an up-and-comer in women's golf. She will be a big factor on our team in the future. She seems to be a natural athlete and has a real passion for the game. She is a hard worker and excels in the classroom – she has a very bright future here at CU!"

Stribling has competed in a myriad of tournaments in her playing career. Some of her best performances occurred at the Future Champions IMG Junior World Qualifier (2nd place), the Toyota Tour Cup at Oak Valley (2nd place) and the Golfweek West Coast Invitational at Mesa Country Club (6th place). Stribling also qualified for the USGA Junior Amateur in the summers of 2014 and 2016.

"I chose Colorado for multiple reasons," Stribling said after her signing. "It has strong academics and an elite golf team where I can improve my game. The coaches are kind, caring, and experienced in the golf world. Also, Boulder is a beautiful town and the campus is amazing."

The women's golf team is gearing for their spring schedule which begins February 11 with the Peg Barnard Invitational in Stanford, California.
