Boyle's Buffs Open Season At Home Friday

BOULDER — Tad Boyle's Colorado men's basketball team will open its season at home Friday night with a 7 p.m. game against Sacramento State at the Coors Events Center.
Tad Boyle returns for his seventh year at CU, with some saying this might be his most talented team yet. The Buffs have been to the postseason in all six of Boyle's years at Colorado, including NCAA Tournament appearances in four of the last five years.
"We're going to learn a lot Friday night," Boyle said of the Buffs' opener. "I know no matter how many practices the NCAA gives you, you never feel like you're ready, but I know the players are. They're ready to play a game and compete against somebody other than themselves."
With four fifth-year seniors returning – Wesley Gordon, Xavier Johnson, Josh Fortune and Derrick White – along with fourth-year junior George King, the Buffs will plenty of experience to replace the loss of graduates Josh Scott and Xavier Talton.
Others who will be major contributors are returnees Dominique Collier and Thomas Akyazili, along with freshmen Bryce Peters, Lucas Siewert and Deleon Brown.
"Right now we have talented guys who understand what needs to be done," Boyle said.
After Friday's opener, the men will have two more games at home next week, a Monday encounter vs. Seattle (7 p.m.) and a Thursday game vs. Louisiana-Monroe (7 p.m.).
CLEAR BAG REMINDER — A reminder that CU has implemented a clear-bag policy for all Buffs volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball contests at the Coors Events Center this season.
Fans may bring one clear bag no larger than 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches, or a one-gallon resealable clear plastic storage bag, into the arena. Fans will also be allowed one small clutch purse, no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. Bags will no longer allowed into the CEC include backpacks, large purses, oversized tote bags, camera bags and binocular cases, diaper bags, fanny packs and printed plastic bags.
