Hunsucker Competes In the Hammer Throw At U.S. Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. —Former University of Colorado Buffalo Emily Hunsucker gave a great performance on Wednesday afternoon in the hammer throw at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team Trials, finishing 15th overall.
Hunsucker, CU's record holder in the event (212-11) was 11th out of 12 in the first flight after two throws (193-8) and then vaulted to fourth place after her third and final attempt of 207-1.
After the second flight competed, Hunsucker dropped to 15th overall, and did not advance to the finals which only take the top nine. Nike's Amber Campbell won the meet with a mark of 242-10 and Gwen Berry (Nike/NYAC) was second with a throw of 239-9. Southern Illinois' Deanna Price was the third place finisher, also with a mark of 239-9.
