Ronaldson Transfers To CU
August 10, 2016 | Tennis
BOULDER – Colorado tennis coach Nicole Kenneally announced the addition of Louise Ronaldson to her team's 2016-17 roster on Wednesday. Ronaldson, a native of London, is a transfer from Mississippi State University. She will have two years of eligibility remaining.
"I am really excited that Lou is joining the Buff family starting this fall," Kenneally said. "The knowledge and experience she has gained in her first two years in the SEC puts her in a spot where she already understands the level of the Pac-12. Lou had a lot of great opportunities with her choice and for her to choose CU shows where we are as a program and where we are going. I'm looking forward to seeing her compete."
Ronaldson posted a 23-18 singles record in two seasons at Mississippi State, playing primarily at the No. 4 position. She also carried a 32-24 record in doubles, fitting in mostly at the No. 2 spot. In SEC play, she was 4-8 in singles matches and 12-10 in doubles competition. Ronaldson was also key to a winning program as a team, leading the Bulldogs to a combined 34-21 record and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances the past two years.
As a freshman in 2015, she was twice named SEC Freshman of the Week. The biggest moment of her career so far came as a freshman when she clinched a 4-3 upset over sixth-ranked Alabama with a 7-6 victory in the third set. She was ranked as high as No. 53 nationally in doubles and No. 124 in the ITA national singles rankings after upsetting the 32nd-ranked player in the country. She is also an excellent student, earning Academic All-SEC in 2015.
Prior to her collegiate career, Ronaldson was a standout in the United Kingdom. She has been ranked in the top 10 and top 15 of the U-16 and U-18 rankings in the U.K. She also won the 21TF doubles championship and was a runner-up in the South Africa ITF.
She chose CU for the welcoming atmosphere, friendly teammates and breathtaking scenery.
