Colorado plays host to Idaho State in home opener

BOULDER — In honor of Colorado's home opener on what is almost assuredly going to be a gorgeous late summer afternoon, we bring you the Top 12 Reasons to Make Sure You Are At Folsom Field on Saturday:

  1. Be a witness to The Rise. This is your chance to say you were there when the turnaround began at Folsom. Yes, you were there last week (hopefully) when the Buffs steamrolled the Rams in Denver, but this is the home opener. Ten years from now, you will want to tell all your friends that you were on hand personally to watch it happen in 2016. Take advantage of the opportunity.

  2. Best venue in America. Seriously, is there a better place to watch college football on a beautiful Saturday afternoon? We didn't think so.

  3. Weather. The forecast calls for a high of 77 degrees. That's about as perfect as it gets. Not too hot, not too cool. A perfect day under the Flatirons to create some memories.

  4. 3:30 p.m. kickoff. Think about it. You have your Saturday morning to go for a hike, catch your son's/daughter's soccer game, sleep in, get groceries or enjoy a late breakfast — and have plenty of time to stroll into the game (after a nice tailgate, of course). After the game, it will still be early enough to grab something to eat with friends  and get the kids home in time for bed.

  5. Ralphie. 'Nuff said.

  6. Debut of the Buffs Fan Zone in the IPF and the first team march down the Buff Walk. Food, beer, tables, chairs and entertainment for the kids in the indoor practice facility; plus the start of a tradition on the brand new Buff Walk. It's a great addition to the gameday experience.

  7. Fashion statement. A chance to show off your cool new clear bag.

  8. Rooftop opportunity. Spend pre-game on the Champions Center Rooftop Terrace and enjoy the best view in Boulder. (You'll want photos. We promise.)

  9. See some of the best players in the Pac-12. A year from now, you'll be watching some of the current Buffs playing on Sunday. This is your opportunity to see players like Chidobe Awuzie, Josh Tupou, Kenneth Olugbode and Tedric Thompson while they're still wearing black and gold.

  10. Chance to start 2-0. There haven't been a lot of those in recent years. Here's your chance to refresh that memory.

  11. No construction. Yep, no matter which way you decide to roll into Folsom, you'll have a clear path. (We would definitely recommend a stroll down the Buff Walk.)

  12. Another Sefo Liufau record. The CU senior quarterback has already set or tied 78 school records, with several more still in sight. Why not take the opportunity to see it in person?

There you go. That's just the short list. Great day, great stadium and a great opportunity to see history in the making.

As the popular hashtag says, #TheRiseIsReal — and this is your chance to be the Strength of the Herd.
