Jank Earns Third Pac-12 Freshman Of The Week Award

December 18, 2017 | Women's Basketball

SAN FRANCISCO - Colorado women's basketball player Annika Jank was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the third time this season and for the second consecutive week on Monday. The only other CU player to earn the award in consecutive weeks was Arielle Roberson on Feb. 26 and March 4 in 2013; Roberson won the freshman of the week five times that season, the most ever for a Colorado player.

Jank, a native of Edina, Minn., averaged 21.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in two games last week, while shooting 15-of-25 (.600) from the floor, 2-of-3 (.667) from 3-point range, and 10-of-11 (.909) at the free throw line. She had 26 points and seven rebounds, making all eight of her free throw attempts and shooting 8-of-15 (.533) from the floor in an 81-75 loss to Dartmouth on Monday. Her 26 points were the most for a CU freshman since Tera Bjorklund had 28 against Wyoming on Nov. 29, 2000. Jank then had 16 points and 11 rebounds, shooting 7-of-10, in a 68-43 win at Air Force on Friday.

The last player to earn Pac-12 Freshman of the Week in consecutive weeks was Washington State's Chanelle Molina on Jan. 2 and Jan. 9 last season. Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu also achieved that last season on Nov. 21 and Nov. 28.

CU hosts Westminster (Mo.) at 7 p.m. on Thursday before opening Pac-12 play on New Year's weekend.
