February 10, 2017 | Tennis
BOULDER – The University of Colorado women's tennis team, boasting a 5-1 record to start the season, will host the Utah State Aggies on Saturday (2:30 p.m. MT) before making the trip down south, on Wednesday, to Colorado Springs to take on the U.S. Air Force Academy Falcons (5:00 p.m. MT).
          Â
The Buffs are coming off a weekend where they split a home and away, losing to Denver 6-1 in Denver, before returning home to Boulder to beat the New Mexico Lobos 4-0 to wrap up the weekend.
          Â
Nuria Ormeño Ruiz continues to dominate at the No. 1 position holding onto a 5-1 record so far this season while carrying the No. 3 ranking in the ITA Mountain Region, to go along with her 14-5 overall record since the fall.
She currently sits tied at tenth on CU's all-time singles total wins list (75-41), and if she's able to take both of her upcoming matches she'll move into sole possession of the tenth spot.
          Â
Junior transfer Louise Ronaldson has quietly put together an impressive start to her CU career, with a 12-3 record overall and a 3-1 record this spring at the No. 2 position.
          Â
Also, off to a solid start in her CU career is freshman Chloe Hule, with a 9-5 record overall and a 3-1 record at the No. 4 position and so far, she has added stability to the middle of the Buffs lineup.
          Â
On Friday, Utah State will first play Colorado College before coming to Boulder.  They enter the weekend with a 4-1 record fresh off a home win last weekend against Idaho State. All-time CU and Utah State have only played twice, the last being a 9-0 win for CU on Feb. 5, 2000, and CU holds a 2-0 record against the Aggies.
          Â
As for the Air Force Academy, they have three matches ahead of Wednesday's meeting against the Buffs. All three are at home, when Northern Colorado, Incarnate Word and the University of the Pacific all travel to Colorado Springs. Entering their weekend the Falcons have a 1-3 record for the season.Â
          Â
All-time the Buffs hold a 16-1 record against the Falcons with a 9-1 record in Colorado Springs. The Buffs enter the match against the Falcons riding a three-game winning streak having beating the Falcons last season 6-1 in Boulder to continue the streak.Â
