Colorado Hosts No. 14 Denver and Marquette

BOULDER — Colorado, which is 4-0 for the first time in program history, will host the No. 14 Denver Pioneers (5-0) and Marquette (2-3) Golden Eagles this week at Kittredge Field. The game against DU is set for Friday, March 3, at 3 p.m. CU will face MU on Sunday, March 5, at 1 p.m.

ABOUT THE BUFFS: Colorado is ranked in all three women's lacrosse polls. The Buffs are 13th in the IWLCA Coaches Poll, ninth in the Cascade/Inside Lacrosse Poll and 10th in the NIKE/US Lacrosse poll.
 
Darby Kiernan leads the Buffs in goals and points. She has 10 goals and five assists for 15 points this season. Kiernan also has a team best 36 draw controls and leads the MPSF with 9.00 per game, which is also third in the NCAA. Johnna Fusco is second for the Buffs with 10 goals and three assists for 13 points. 
 
As a team, CU has 24 caused turnovers this season. Sarah Brown has tallied six of her own to lead the team, while Kelsie Garrison and Marie Moore are second with three. Garrison leads the team with nine ground balls this season. Paige Soenksen has four wins this season in goal. She has allowed 6.56 goals per game, which leads the MPSF and is sixth in the NCAA. Soenksen also has an impressive .596 save percentage on 78 shots faced, which is seventh in the NCAA.  
 
ABOUT DENVER: Denver is ranked 14th in all three polls this week after starting the season 5-0, which includes a pair of wins over ranked opponents.
 
Kendra Lanuza has a team best 25 points with 14 goals and 11 assists this season, which is seventh in the NCAA. Elizabeth Behrins is second on the team with 19 points, but leads DU with 15 goals. Julia Feiss is the third Pioneer with double-digit goals (12). Maddy Stevenson had recorded all five wins in net for the Pioneers. Her 7.46 goals against average ranks 12th in the NCAA and her .507 save percentage is 23rd.
 
THE SERIES: Denver leads the all-time series at 2-1, but the Buffs won the last meeting between the two schools in Denver, 11-10, on Feb. 12, 2016.
 
ABOUT MARQUETTE: Marquette is 2-3 to start the 2017 season. The Golden Eagles dropped their first three games to ranked opponents (No. 18 Louisville, No. 8 Notre Dame and No. 17 Johns Hopkins) before picking up two straight wins against Central Michigan and Kennesaw State.
 
Grace Gabriel leads MU with 15 points this season. She has 13 goals and two assists. Julianna Shearer and Claire Costanza each have 13 points this season. Shearer has 12 goals and one assist and Costanza has four goals and nine assists. Molly Grozier has a 2-3-0 record this season in goal. She has played in 218:34 of 300:00 total minutes for the Golden Eagles. Grozier has allowed 11.80 goals per game this season and has a .377 save percentage.
 
THE SERIES: Colorado leads the all-time series 2-0. This will be the first meeting between the two teams in Boulder as the previous two were in Milwaukee, Wis.
 
HOME GAME INFORMATION: All of Colorado's home games will be played at Kittredge Field. Admission is free, as is parking in Lot 416.
 
PROMOTIONS: Friday's game against Denver is the Lacrosse Out Cancer game - fans are encouraged to wear pink. There will also be 150 free Lamar's donuts.

UP NEXT: Colorado will hit the road to face its fourth ranked opponent this season, No. 6 Penn State. The contest is scheduled for Sunday, March 12, and is set for a 10 a.m. MT start.
