Lindsay Values Win Over Individual Accolades

DENVER— Colorado senior running back Phillip Lindsay produced the seventh 100-yard rushing game of his career in Friday night's 17-3 Buffs win over Colorado State, but the most important thing for Lindsay was the win.
"I'm not a selfish person like that, I don't really look at the stuff like that," Lindsay said. "I'm happy we won the game, anything I can do to help win the game, that's what I'm going to do. I'm happy that my offensive line did what they did, to help me get to where I got today."
Lindsay tallied 140 yards on 19 carries in his final collegiate game at Sports Authority Field, including a 45-yard touchdown run that gave the Buffs a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter. His first quarter touchdown gave him some juice for the rest of the game, as he averaged 7.4 yards per carry.
"The offensive line handled its business, I was patient, followed it and it hit how it always does in practice," Lindsay said of his long touchdown. "Understanding scoring is going to help my team and it's all about the team. I'm glad I was able to do that."
"Phil is a heck of a runner, we were able to bust him through there, he's powerful," Buffs head coach Mike MacIntyre said. "Last year they stopped catching him, this year they don't catch him either. He's just got that extra gear, he's a little faster, a little stronger."
Although Colorado scored only two touchdowns Friday, Lindsay's breakthrough in the first quarter showed promise for Colorado's explosive offensive.
"We're a team that thrives off of big plays so anytime we can get a momentum shift in our way, that's what we want," Lindsay said.
Being a hometown Colorado kid, Lindsay always plays hard for his state. In his career at Colorado, Lindsay played in three wins in four games against the Rams. Combine this year's  totals with last year's and Lindsay dominated his final two seasons against the Rams, with 39 carries, 235 yards and three touchdowns.
"It's a pretty good feeling," Lindsay said. "It feels pretty good to get the win for myself."
Friday's game was also emotional for Lindsay because his mother was able to come out and watch him play. The family was interviewed by the Pac-12 Network after the game.
"My mom cried because that's what moms do," Lindsay said with a laugh.
Lindsay also moved into the all-time Colorado top 10 for career rushing yards in the game with 2,373; and he now needs 644 more all-purpose yards on the season to break the CU career record, currently held by Rodney Stewart (4,828).
