CU To Head To Washington For Two Road Conference Matches

BOULDER - Colorado's soccer team hits the road for two matches this weekend in Washington. CU plays at Washington State at 6:30 p.m. (MT) on Thursday, a match that will be televised on Pac-12 Network and Pac-12 Mountain. The Buffs then play at Washington at 1 p.m. (MT) on Sunday in Seattle.
CU is coming off its second loss of the season, 2-0 to No. 1 UCLA, and sits at 6-2-2 overall heading into the weekend.
Scouting Washington State
The Cougars enter Thursday 5-2-2 overall and have played three ranked teams so far, drawing 0-0 with No. 19 Minnesota, defeating No. 14 Nebraska 1-0 at home, and falling 2-1 at No. 2 Stanford last weekend in their Pac-12 opener.
Maddy Haro and Morgan Weaver led WSU with four goals scored each and the two are the only Cougars with more than one goal. Haro also has a team-high three assists and is tied with CU's Taylor Kornieck for seventh in the Pac-12 with 11 points this season. Ella Dederick is posting a 0.63 goals-against average and has six shutouts through nine matches.
Haro (defensive) and Dederick (goalkeeper) have each earned Pac-12 player of the week honors this season. Weaver was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team last year.

The Huskies start Thursday's match against Utah with a 7-3-0 record and have a win over No. 2 Florida (1-0 at home) under their belt. They opened Pac-12 play with a 1-0 loss to No. 13 California in Seattle on Saturday.
Kimberly Keever and Shannon Simon pace UW with four goals each and freshman Sianna Siemonsma has three scores. Keever is familiar to Buffs fans as she has scored in each of the past two meetings between the two schools, a 1-1 draw in 2015 and a 2-1 win for the Buffs last season. One of Simon's goals this season was a penalty kick and she is now 7-of-8 on PKs in her career. Siemonsma scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Boise State in Portland, earning Portland Nike Invitational Offensive MVP honors. Jessica Udovich was the defensive MVP of that tournament as well.
Keever was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection last season and Simon was named honorable mention.
Sarah Shimer has six shutouts in goal and has a 0.59 GAA through 10 matches with an .842 save percentage. She had a shutout streak of 515:54 snapped by Cal and leads the Pac-12 in save percentage and is third in GAA.
