2019 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll

SENIOR (2020): Nissen played in two games, which included one start, in the final season. Her first appearance of the season came in the conference opener against Oregon (3/6), where she converted on both of her shots to score a career-high two goals, which included her first collegiate free-position goal. Nissen earned her first career start in the following game against Coastal Carolina (3/8). This time she scored one goal and assisted on another for her second straight two-point game. She also added three ground balls.
 
JUNIOR (2019): Nissen saw time in five games as a reserve attacker. She had a great game against Arizona State (3/17) where she recorded one ground ball and one caused turnover in a 15-3 win.
 
SOPHOMORE (2018): Nissen saw action in four games and scored her first career goal against Arizona State (4/8), which was a 16-3 win.
 
FRESHMAN (2017): Nissen played in one game as a reserve midfielder. The freshman saw action in the 18-6 win over Winthrop on March 13.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Nissen is a 2016 graduate of Moorestown High School where she was a second team all-state player as a senior, while serving as a team captain. A three-year letterwinner and four-year participant, she led Moorestown to three state championships and a sectional championship each year. As a junior, she was named a U.S. Lacrosse academic All-American and she graduated with honors. Nissen also lettered four years in soccer, where she also served as a team captain and led her team to two division championships and two South Jersey Group 3 championships. She lists being a member of two undefeated teams and being a part of the No. 1-ranked public high school team in the nation as the biggest moments of her prep career. She was also a member of the Moorestown High School Honor and Service Society and her school’s SAAC.

CLUB TEAM: Nissen played for South Jersey Select Lacrosse and was selected for U.S. Lacrosse’s national tournament for New Jersey South Team 1 after her sophomore year of high school.

IN THE CLASSROOM: Nissen graduated in May 2020 with a degree in environmental design and a minor in business.

PERSONAL: Annika Mahlon Nissen was born on June 22, 1998. Her sister Margaret played lacrosse at Rutgers. She enjoys snowboarding, travel, kayaking and outdoor adventure. Nissen chose CU before the lacrosse program had ever played a game because she was “confident in the coaches’ vision, the players’ commitment, and the amazing campus/student body would create a championship-winning environment.”
