Bio
SOPHOMORE (2018): Shells played in five games as a defender for the Buffs and recorded two ground balls, one against Michigan (2/9) and against versus Northwestern (2/15).
FRESHMAN (2017): Shells saw action in the win over Winthrop on March 15.
HIGH SCHOOL: Shells is a 2016 graduate of Valor Christian High School where she was a two-time all-league selection. A four-year letterwinner, she had her best season in 2016 as a senior when she scored 30 goals and had 35 ground balls and 42 draw controls. She led the team in draw control percentage in 2013, 2015 and 2016. She also lettered in softball and played right field, helping Valor Christian to a district and league championship in 2012-13. As a senior, Shells earned the Wendy’s Heisman High School Female Athlete Award. She is also an excellent student, twice earning honorable mention academic all-state.
CLUB TEAM: She participated in the Maverik Showtime Showcase and made the all-star team and led her team to a championship, despite being the only participant from west of the Mississippi River.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Shells is majoring in management.
PERSONAL: Dominique Shells was born on Nov. 8, 1997 to Reginald and Celia Shells. Her father ran track at the University of Illinoi and her mother was a cheerleader at Prairie View A&M. She enjoys volunteering, Sudoku and has a goal of being an employee at a Fortune 500 company after graduation. Despite graduating high school in Denver, she is a Seattle Seahawks fan and was born in Washington. She also is a fan of the Denver Outlaws. She chose CU over Northwestern, Rutgers and Army West Point because it is an up-and-coming program and she believes the great coaching staff will be able to help her grow over the next four years. Also, “CU has an amazing campus and facilities.”
