Career at Colorado—Newman competed in one NCAA Championships in her career with the Buffs where she competed in 35 races with nine top 15 performances.
 
2017 (Senior)—She competed in nine races on the season, finishing eight of them. She placed 16th in the freestyle sprint races at the Seawolf Invitational where she was also on the mixed gender relay team that came in 13th in the event. She finished off her career competing in the RMISA Championships for the third time. There she placed 23rd in the 5K classic race, two spots behind her best finish in the discipline that came in the Alaska Anchorage Invitational when she finished 21st in the second week of February.

2016 (Junior) – She finished all 10 races leading up to the NCAA Championships with seven top 20 performances and one top 10.  She took ninth in the classic race at the New Mexico Invitational and also had her best freestyle finish there, taking 11th. 

2015 (Sophomore) – She competed in four races, finishing them all. She placed 11 at the Utah Invitational in the 10k classical event.

2014 (Freshman)—Newman was immediately thrown into action and counted on heavily as a freshman as one of four freshman newcomers coming in to replace what was the nation’s top women’s Nordic team in 2013.  Newman responded by being the only one of the four to complete all 12 races as a freshman.  She had 10 top 20 finishes and one top 10.  Her best finish of the season was a seventh place showing at the classic race at the Utah Invitational, also a race at the U.S. Cross Country National Championships. 

Club—Newman skied for the SSWSC Nordic team for 10 years and the Rocky Mountain Junior National Team for four years. In 2013, she finished third in the classic relay and eighth in the classic 10K mass start at the Junior Nationals in Fairbanks. In addition, she earned second in the junior classic sprint at the Senior Nationals in Utah. She also finished 14th overall and the first junior at the DU Invitational and RMN Junior National Qualifier. Newman also competed in the Norwegian Junior Nationals.

High School— Newman graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 2013.   

In the Classroom—Newman is planning to major in Integrated Physiology at Colorado and is also interested in Law.

Personal— Lucy Newman was born September 10, 1994 in Steamboat Springs, Colo., to Matt and Lynn Newman. Her sister, Molly Newman, skis for the University of New Hampshire Nordic team. In her spare time, Lucy likes to do yoga, go road biking and hike with her dogs. After college, she plans to become an osteopathic physician.
