In the following match against then-No. 14 Florida State, Lea came in early in the first set after teammate Joslyn Hayes left the match due to an injury. Lea was valuable for the Buffs, recording six kills on 14 errorless attacks while hitting .429, as the Buffs upset the Seminoles. In the next match that same day against Oklahoma, Lea again hit well for the Buffs, tallying six kills on 12 error-free swings (.500). She saw limited action in the conference season, playing in four matches. Lea recorded 17 kills, four digs and six blocks while earning a .240 hitting efficiency during the season.
High School
Lea came to CU after a successful high school career for the Kelowna Owls and also played for the Junior Heat Volleyball Club. Lea was the team captain of the U17 team that won the provincial championship in 2014. She was on the U18 Team BC that won a bronze medal at the national cup in 2014 and she was named a first-team all-star as a member of the U15 team that won the provincial championships.
Lea will be the first Buffalo from British Columbia, just the fourth overall from Canada. She was recruited heavily by Hawai’i, Georgia Tech, and British Columbia, and garnered interest from many other schools before picking Colorado.
