2015: Indoor: Kazen competed in one pentathlon in her first season, placing 14th at the CSM Alumni Open with 2,876 points. At that meet, she recorded four season bests. She ran 10.51 in the 60-meter hurdles and clocked in at 2:40.02 in the 800. She also jumped 5-1.25 in the high jump and threw the shot put 34-8.50.  
Outdoor: Kazen competed in several events on the track and in the field as a multi athlete. She recorded a pair season best marks in the 200 (28.57) and javelin (108-9) at the Fum McGraw Quadrangular (3/28). Kazen also tallied a couple season bests at the Jack Christiansen Invite (4/25). She clocked in at 18.87 in the 100-meter hurdles and cleared 5-1.25 in the high jump.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Kazen was named the JB Alexander Track Athlete of the Year as a senior and sophomore. She was the UIL District 29-5A, UIL Area 20-30 and Border Olympics high jump champion and was named the Laredo Morning Times track all-district first team in 2014. As a junior, she was the Border Olympics high jump champion and the UIL District 29-5 shot put champion. Kazen was also the Laredo Philharmonic Rising Star violinist and earned the JBAHS Academic and Athletic award in 2013. She won the Border Olympics high jump and the UIL District 29-5A in the shot put as a sophomore. Kazen qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics in the heptathlon in 2012 and the high jump in 2011.  She was an AP Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society. Kazen was also recruited by Washington, Rice and Texas A&M International.

HIGH SCHOOL BESTS: High jump: 5-6; shot put: 36-9; javelin: 96-0; long jump: 16-1; 200-meters: 26.6.

IN THE CLASSROOM: Kazen is a chemistry major. She has a GPA greater than 3.80.     

PERSONAL: Rebecca Claire Kazen was born on January 22, 1996. She is the daughter of John and Hayley Kazen. Her aunt Camille Escobedo was a high jumper at Rice. Kazen plays violin, loves photography and enjoys skiing, hiking, kayaking and anything outdoors.
