BOULDER and WYANDOTTE, Mich.GÇôBASF is continuing to promote zero-waste and sustainable living practices, by announcing that it is partnering with the University of Colorado to host a series of eight Sustainable Gamedays during select menGÇÖs and womenGÇÖs home basketball games at the universityGÇÖs Coors Events Center.

GÇ£Sustainable Gamedays at CU offers basketball fans an entertaining and interactive way to learn about new ways of thinking when it comes to sustainable living,GÇ¥ said Chris Bradlee, Biopolymers Market Development Manager, BASF. GÇ£The university shares BASFGÇÖs commitment to promoting zero-waste by collecting organic waste with compostable bags. The BASF partnership was secured and is managed by the University's athletic multimedia rights holder, Learfield Sports' Buffalo Sports Properties. CU has a progressive recycling and composting program, and is one of the leading universities in the country when it comes to zero waste. Certified compostable bags made with ecovio-« by BASF play an important role in the university's success by making collection of food waste cleaner, safer and easier.

"With innovative programs like Sustainable Gamedays, together, BASF and CU are transforming zero waste at college campuses," says David Newport, Director of CU's Environmental Center.

During the select games, videos featuring facts about sustainability and organics recycling will air on BuffVision screens at the Coors Events Center. Fans will also get the opportunity to participate in an interactive trivia game to win prizes.

The Buffs have been a leader in sustainability nationally with Folsom Field becoming the first major stadium at the college or pro level to become a zero-waste facility.  Additionally, CU's new practice facility adjacent to the Coors Events Center was just the second athletic facility nationally to earn Platinum status from the LEED rating system.
