QUICKLY  Colorado is 4-1 for the first time since the 2005 season and 2-0 in league play for the first time since 2007 (wins over #3 Oklahoma and Baylor); also the first time CU has ever won back-to-back Pac-12 league games … Today’s attendance of 46,839 was the largest since Sept. 29, 2012, when 46,893 came through the gates for UCLA; it was also the largest Family Weekend crowd since 2011 (51,928 vs. Washington State) … CU is now 18-7 in Family Weekend games … CU dressed 74 players for the game, 67 played … The 41-point win was CU’s largest in a league game since Oct. 24, 1992, when the Buffs beat Kansas State 54-7 in Boulder … The Buffs have now won all five coin tosses this season and have deferred each time … Colorado did not score on its first possession for the first time this season, and Oregon State was the first opponent to score first in a game against the Buffs in 2016 … The Buffs have scored in eight straight quarters (and in 17 of 20 this season); CU gained at least 100 yards in the first seven of those until having “just” 89 in the fourth quarter today  …Colorado did not lose yardage on a rush until its 49th attempt of the game … DL Lyle Tuiloma played in his first career game.

First Quarter … Colorado continues to come out of the gate strong: CU has outscored the opponent 85-17 with an 976-292 edge in total offense in the five first quarters combined.  CU’s 85 first quarter points this year (second-most nationally coming in) are its 10th-most in its history (118 is the record, set in 1994).

Offense Notes … CU was 14-of-31 on second down conversions, meaning the Buffs were 31-of-62 against the Oregon schools (17-of-31 last week) …  Colorado is now 52-9 all-time when rushing (247 today) and passing (316) for 200-plus yards in both: 4-0 this year … The Buffs have now gained over 500 yards in four games this season (563 today), the last time CU had four in its first five games was in the 1994 season … This is the 75th turnover-free game in school history (49-22-4 in those games) and second of the season (other was at No. 4 Michigan).

Defense … The 6 points allowed by CU was the fewest in a Pac-12 game (47 total); previous low was 13 by OSU last year … also first time CU has not allowed a TD in a Pac-12 contest … The last time CU held a league opponent without a TD was 11 years ago to the day: Oct. 1, 2005 in a 34-0 win at Oklahoma State … The Buff defense cranked it up when the Beavers hit midfield; OSU ran 30 plays in plus territory for 51 yards … CU is now allowing just 290.4 yards per game, with three of the first teams held under 250; the last time that happened was in 2007.

INDIVIDUAL LINER NOTES

WR Shay Fields (7-169, 3 TD, 5 FDE).  He became just the fourth Buffalo to have three touchdowns receiving in a game, joining Richard Johnson vs. Kansas in Boulder, Nov. 13, 1982; Rae Carruth vs. Iowa State in Boulder, Nov. 3, 1996; and Nelson Spruce vs. California at Berkeley, Sept. 27, 2014 (but is the first Buffalo to have three TD receptions in a single half).   The 169 yards are the 14th most in Colorado history, and he now has nine career plays over 50 yards, four this year.

OLB Rick Gamboa (3 TT, INT).  His interception near the end of the first half was the first of his career; he returned it 20 yards for a TD, making him the 16th Buffalo since 1992 to return his first career pick for a score; the last to do it before today was Kenneth Olugbode (last year vs. CSU); Olugbode broke up the pass that Gamboa gobbled up.  It extended CU’s nation-best streak to forcing at least one turnover in 18 straight games.

PK Davis Price (5-5 PAT, 2-2 FG, 11 points).  The freshman from Evergreen had his first career placekicks today, and in the process, set the CU record for the longest field goal made by a freshman (54 yards); the previous long was 52 yards by Will Oliver versus California in Boulder on Sept. 10, 2011 (note: CU’s Mason Crosby, a two-time All-American kicker in 2005-06, saw what Davis did and sent out a congratulatory tweet).

OLB Jimmie Gilbert (7,0—7 TT, 2 QBS-26).  He recorded the first multi-sack game of his career. He now has had a hand on a sack in 4-of-5 games this season. He also forced his second fumble of the season and finished one off his career-high unofficially (CU uses coaches’ video, official numbers Sunday).

QB Steven Montez (27-19-0, 293, 3 TD, 198.2 rating; 4-28 rushing; 321 total offense).  He has 626 yards passing and 6 TDs in his first two career games.
