QUICKLY  Colorado is both 6-2 overall and 4-1 in league play for the first time since the 2005 season (when CU opened 7-2 and 5-1, respectively, in the Big 12); the Buffs are also bowl-eligible for the first time since 2007 (Independence Bowl vs. Alabama, lost 30-24) … Colorado has now won seven of eight coin tosses this season … Three new NFL teams scouted the Buffaloes in person from the press box today, raising the season total to 21; 18 scouts have signed on to scout the UCLA game on Nov. 3 … Colorado took its first lead in the series (7-3 early in the second quarter) since holding a 37-34 lead late in the ’93 game (a span of five games) … The 10 combined first half points tied for the second-fewest in a game since CU joined the Pac-12 (league and non-league); CU trailed Washington at Boulder, 7-0, in an eventual 38-3 loss on Nov. 17, 2012; the Buffs led Utah, 10-0, at halftime in 2011 … Th 10 points CU scored was the fewest in winning a game since a 6-0 win at Missouri on Oct. 8, 1992 … This is the sixth time in school history the opponent scored 5 points in a game (5-1; the previous time prior to today was on Thanksgiving Day in 1907 (Nov. 28), a 5-4 loss to Colorado Mines in Denver … The Buffs have now held two league foes without a TD this season (OSU, Stanford); CU snapped a 10-game losing streak in California, and is now 3-20-1 (the two wins came in the ’96 Holiday Bowl in San Diego (33-21 over Washington) and over UCLA in 2002 (31-17 at the Rose Bowl) ... The Buffs are 6-17 against the Pac-12 North since joining the league, but 3-0 this season having beaten both Oregon schools and now Stanford (the fourth and final game is Nov. 19 vs. Washington State) ... The 2:58 game time was CU’s fastest since 2013 (2:50 at Washington).

Series Notes: Stanford now leads the all-time series by a 6-4 margin, including a 3-1 edge since the Buffs joined the Pac-12 in 2011 (the Cardinal have outscored CU 143-27).

First Quarter … Stanford is only the second team to shutout the Buffs in the opening quarter (joining USC); the 24 yards the Cardinal held CU to in the period was Colorado’s second fewest yards in any quarter this season (had 23 in the fourth quarter at Michigan).  CU still owns huge edges in the quarter in scoring (92-34) and in total offense (1,228-575).

Offense … Colorado rushed for 224 yards today (which included 29 lost yards to sacks); the Buffs had 122 against the Cardinal in the last three games combined … The 359 yards of total offense was also a high against Stanford since joining the Pac-12 (topping 264, 76 and 231).

DefenseOLB N.J. Falo recorded his first career quarterback sack and CB Isaiah Oliver made his first career interception … The Buffs have now held four opponents to single-digits this season, the most in 27 years, when CU held four under 10 in 1989 (also doing it in 1985 and 1988; the last time five were held under 10 was in 1978—when the first five opponents of the year all scored 7 points) … CU has held three of five Pac-12 opponents under 300 yards of total offense (all 263 or lower).

INDIVIDUAL LINER NOTES

CB Tedric Thompson (5 TT, 2 INT).  He had his ninth and 10th career interceptions near the end of the first half, becoming the 13th player to have that many in a CU career (tied with four others for ninth place).  The last Buff to pickoff two passes in the same game was Jered Bell vs. Nicholls State last year; it is the 76th time in school history a player has intercepted two or more in the same game. His first pick at the time also extended CU’s nation-leading streak to 21 games forcing at least one turnover, but CU went on to force three more.

QB Sefo Liufau (25-12-0, 135, 1 TD).  He set school records today for the most career passing attempts (1,228) and the most consecutive passes without an interception (148; he is the only player in school history with three streaks over 100 (others are 118 and 107).  He now owns or shares 80 school records.

TB Phillip Lindsay (12-131 rushing).  This was his fourth career 100-yard game, second this season (219 last week against Arizona State).  He has now averaged at least 4.0 yards per carry in 10 straight games – the longest run of such since 1988-89, when J.J. Flannigan did it 14 consecutive games over two seasons
