Stampede Pricing FAQ
Colorado Athletics is introducing Stampede Pricing for the highly anticipated Wednesday, November 30 men’s basketball game against Colorado State.
Q: What is Stampede Pricing?
A: Stampede Pricing is a variable ticket pricing plan that follows a predetermined and transparently announced pricing schedule. Pricing will start at the publicized price on October 10. If tickets remain, and the price will be adjusted down every week until it reaches the floor price on November 16. After November 16 pricing may increase again through dynamic pricing.
Customers who choose to buy tickets at the initial price assure themselves the first selection of available seats. Customers who would rather pay a lower price have the option to wait for the price to decrease, but risk the chance of the game selling out before the price falls to their desired level.
Q: What is the purpose of Stampede Pricing?
A: Stampede Pricing is a form of predictable dynamic pricing that is a slightly different form of the supply-based dynamic pricing models that are used for many sporting events. In traditional dynamic pricing, the price of tickets change based on the market demand for the game and as the supply of tickets decreases.
Predictable dynamic pricing provides customers full visibility into the pricing schedule for the first four weeks of sales. Customers may choose to wait for a lower price, but risk these highly anticipated games selling out.
It rewards customers who are willing to pay more with first access to a limited supply of tickets and to the best seats available, as opposed to creating a frenzy to purchase the best available seats the moment they go on sale.
Q: How were ticket prices set?
A: Ticket prices were set based upon the average historic price of tickets available on the secondary market and then lowered every week to ultimately match our base price. The prices are higher at the earlier dates because of the potential demand for this premium game.
Q: Could the ticket price continue to increase after November 16?
A: Yes, the price could increase. Individual game ticket prices can be dynamically priced; which means that with higher demand, the ticket price could be increased. There is not a fixed schedule for ticket price increases.
Q: Can I receive a refund if I purchase tickets early and the price drops later on?
A: No, all sales are final. The purpose of this webpage and FAQ is to communicate the pricing schedule in advance, so fans can decide when they would like to purchase tickets.
Q: In the past, I have purchased tickets to the CSU game with the use of a promo code. Will that still be an option?
A: No, Stampede Pricing is a new concept and it is taking the place of the group sales promo code. Stampede Pricing gives you the opportunity to purchase tickets at an earlier date for an increased price.
Q: Who else has done this?
A: In our conference, Stanford and Arizona have done it. This is a recent concept.
