Buffs Look Sharp at Tom Benich Invite

GREELEY, COLO. — The weather in Colorado was finally perfect on Sunday as members of the University of Colorado track and field team competed at the Tom Benich Invite. The meet was pushed one day to avoid a potential snow storm.

WHAT HAPPENED
Duane McClurkin Jr. paced the Buffs in Greely collecting two first place finishes on the day. He raced to a first place finish in the 200 meter dash, finishing in 21.15 seconds which is only .03 seconds off his PR time. McClurkin Jr. also took home the 400 meter event title clocking a an impressive 47.17 PR time. McClurkin's time currently sits as the No. 20th time in the West NCAA Region.

For the second year in a row, Delaney Hall took home top honors in the javelin with a toss of 145-6/44.36. This is also the second week in a row Hall has won the javelin. Also having a good day in the field was Matthew Denton who threw a 179-1/54.58 mark to finish third overall.

Isaiah Oliver put together some solid performances on the day, including a second place finish in the men's long jump. Oliver landed a 22-5.25/6.84 mark in the long jump. Teammate Andrew Ghizzone finished right behind Oliver with a 22-2.25/6.76 mark to finish in third place. Oliver also added a third place finish in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.41. Â

Rajon O'Quinn finished fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.28. Maja Wichhart-Donzo also had a solid day in the 100 meter hurdles finishing in fifth place with a time of 14.50.

UP NEXT:
The Buffs will host the Colorado Invitational next weekend, April 7-8, at Potts Field. This will be the second and final home meet of the season.
