Â
NEXT TIME:
The Buffs will hit the road for two separate locations next week. The long distant runners and throwers will compete at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., while the sprinters and jumpers will head to Fayetteville, Ark. For the Tyson Invitational. Events for both start on Friday February 10th. Â
Â
QUOTABLE (CU Head Coach Mark Wetmore):
Opening Statement
Frankly the highlight of today, I think, were the 800m races, again, most of the people ran really well. A lot of good middle and long distance performances this weekend. That is our specialty. They haven't raced yet until this weekend, training since November and it is time. A really good weekend for those middle and long distance runners. Â Four NCAA qualifying marks and lots of personal bests.
Â
On the Miles Last Night
Certainly, the highlight of the weekend were the two miles last night. When a runner runs up here, the NCAA has an adjustment for the elevation, and when those times from yesterday are adjusted, we will have the first, second, third fastest men in America and we will have the fastest woman in America. Â That is a pretty big deal. There are still a lot of meets to go, other people will run fast. But those three guys and Danny Jones are in the NCAA. They've qualified for the NCAA.
