
Buffs Place 14 On MPSF All-Academic Team

BOULDER – The University of Colorado's track and field team placed 14 student-athletes on the 2017 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic teams. The women had nine, while the men placed five on the team.

Erin Clark headlines the women's group. Clark, who earned her degree in ecology and evolutionary biology is now pursuing a master's degree in educational foundations, policy and practice and owns a 4.00 GPA. Junior Kaitlyn Benner was second with a 3.915 GPA in biological and chemical engineering, while thrower Elisa Grandemange rounds out the top three with a 3.873 GPA in integrative physiology major.

The men's team was led by junior Ben Saarel, who has a 3.971 GPA while majoring in engineering physics and computer science double major. Junior Christian Martin, a double major in political science and international affairs was second with a 3.57 GPA.

To be chosen for this distinction, honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00, must be a sophomore academically, must have completed at least one academic year with their institution, and must have competed in at least 50 percent of the institution's competition.
