Buffs Find Success in Hurdles at Fum McGraw

FORT COLLINS, COLO. — The University of Colorado track team saw success in the hurdles, collecting three out of the four event titles here Saturday at the Fum McGraw outdoor meet.

The Buffs competed against Colorado State, Wyoming and Northern Colorado in the competition at Jack Christiansen Track at Colorado State, as well as a few unattached athletes.

WHAT HAPPENED
Hurdle Success
Eriana Henderson and Trenton Stringari both took the 400 meter hurdles by storm to record first place finishes on Saturday.

Stringari made his outdoor season debut, finishing the 400 hurdles in 52.88 seconds which is only .14 off his personal best time. Henderson snatched her second 400 meter hurdles event title in two weeks clocking a 1:00.63 time to take home the first-place finish. Coming in right behind Stringari was teammate Kodie Artner who clocked a 53.00 time to finish second. Isaiah Kaiser also finished in the top-5 of the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 53.64.

The Buffs found success in the all hurdle events across the board as Jaron Thomas took home the 110 meter hurdle event title with a time of 14.22. On the women's side, Maja Wichhart-Donzo came in third place for the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.49 which is .09 off her personal best time from last season. Teammate Eriana Henderson finished fifth clocking a solid 14.64 time.

First Place Finishes
Gabby Scott put together a strong early season 400 meters time clocking a PR time of 54.64 to win the event title. This time moves her into fourth all-time for CU performers for the event coming in behind Eileen Gehring, Lindsy Mattson and Tamara Ards.

Earning a first place finish in the Javelin, was Delaney Hall tossing a 143-2/43.65 mark. Teammate Michaela Wenning finished in second with a mark of 105-8/32.21.

In the 4x400 meter relay, the men and women both made a strong showing. The men took home the event title clocking a 3:14.92. The relay was comprised of Jaron Thomas, Trenton Stringari, Kodie Artner and Isaiah Kaiser. And the women placed second with a time of 3:51.27 (Peters, Brown, Wenning, Scott).

UP NEXT:
CU will be back in action next weekend, March 31- April 1. Some of the team will travel to Stanford, Calif., to compete at the Stanford Invitational, while other members of the team will compete at the Tom Benich Invitational in Greeley, Colo.
